Project Vraksh Ropan at Kadamb Khandi, Shri Govardhan
Kadamb Khandi lies on the Jatipura side of Shri Giriraj Govardhan Tarheti. It is in proximity to Eravat Kund, Shree Van Bihariji Mandir and Shri Govind Swami Dwar.
Today all we find are few Peelu trees which also need to be protected. Absolutely no Kadamb Trees are found here. Our initial plan is to plant 100 Kadamb Vraksh, Tamal, Peepal, Bel, Bardgad trees. Once saplings are planted we need to protect and water then for at least 2-3 years.
Kadamb, Peelu, Tamal trees are a very intimate part of Shree RadhaKrushn, ShreeNathji Leela. Also Peelu trees are difficult to plant as their seeds or cuttings are not available. This monsoon we led a drive searching for the tiny growths which happen around a tree and we did find few small Peelu saplings with roots. These are now in observation for few months before we can plant hem in ground.
Searching for the Peelu saplings which sometimes grow near the roots
And as the pracheen name suggests it was a Kadamb Khandi in the earlier times. With ShreeNathji Prabhu kripa , we’d like to bring back some of the lost beauty and divinity to this sthal. It needs protection from encroachment and animals. The serenity and Divinity of this particular place has not yet been compromised, hence its possible to turn it into a Divine Leela sthali once again where bhakts take rest and are able to feel the Divyata of this bhumi once again.
As it lies on the inner parikrama marg it has a lovely view of Giriraj Govardhan also.
Again, Its only and only possible to do any shubh kary with ShreeNathji’s Krupa and sahyog. In 1400-1500 AD, it was a play area for ShreeNathji and Asht sakha Shri Govind Swami. Once restored maybe Shree Thakurjee woud like to come Play here once its clean and well maintained with all the pracheen trees making it look like the true Vraj area which it once was.
With the help of mukhiyaji Shri Nandlalji from the Van Bihariji mandir we have tried to uplift this area and keep it clean and not change its look in name of restoration.
Any type of help from readers is welcome. Most importantly to spread word about how important it is to keep Vraj leela bhumi clean and pavitra.
Uploading few photos of the Vraksh Ropan we started here.
It’s cheaper to make our own tree guards. Though it’s not as sturdy as the ready made one

Being off the main road, with no running water, tankers have to be used in a regular basis
